Is anyone out there?

Just checking. You know sometimes I think I do this blog more for myself and so I remember things that for anyone else but I do appreciate those that still follow our goings on.

This has been an interesting month for us. Mike's Dad passed away. He has been battle cancer for the last several months and due to excessive drinking his liver took him first. It is a bitter sweet thing for us. We are flying down to Oakland to be there for the funeral. We leave on Friday. We keep joking about how far along I am and will I be able to put the tray table down. Should I claim the baby as a lap child etc. Really though I am not looking forward to flying in my current state. I feel awkward and huge as it is and if the person in front of me puts their seat back they had better be prepared to put it right back up. Also, Gavin has a sinus infection (at least that is what the doctor is guessing since it isn't his ears but he has had a runny nose and cough for 2 weeks and then spiked a fever). Yay let's go on an airplane!

Please keep us in your prayers this is a more difficult time that I thought it would be for many reasons. We just have so much going on.

So it has taken me a long time to get on here. No good excuses.

We are potty training for those that don't know and we are down to 1-2 accidents a day. He gets through the night just fine and his naps. Haven't had a sleeping accident in a month. I feel like we are far enough from diapers to keep going but not close enough to calling him trained.

So today he was running a fever and very clingy. He was sitting on me and he started to pee. I was just about to take him to the potty too so I was more frustrated with myself then him. I knew since he was so tired and out of it that the chance was good. We were doing our night time routine which includes recounting the day. He tells me "I pee on Mommy. She not happy." Too cute and too true!

Stay Tuned...

This week marks the official half way point of my pregnancy and I feel like I have earned every minute and then some. Through nausea, vomiting, back pain, heart burn and other things I am surviving one day at a time. I am grateful to my loving, caring and hardworking husband and my adorable, loving, sweet son.

Last Friday we had our "big" ultrasound to see how baby was doing. The baby is healthy and happy in there and even gave us a little wave at one point. So sweet! We had the opportunity to find out the gender of the baby at that appointment as well. For those of you who don't already know we are waiting until Mike's birthday (Saturday) to find out. The ultrasound tech sealed up two envelopes one with pictures of the babies gender and one with just boy or girl written down. We took the later one to a special bakery in town and they are going to do the center of Mike's birthday cake either pink or blue for the babies gender. So we won't know what it is until we cut his birthday cake! I am so excited! Tempted to peak at the other envelope that is in the glove compartment of my car with the pictures of the babies gender but knowing that I will be so happy I waited.

Feel free to comment with your guesses I would love to hear and stay tuned to find out if it is a boy or a girl...only the cake will tell!

Happy Birthday Gavin!

My sweet boy turned 2 this year. His birthday was on Thanksgiving day so we celebrated the weekend before. Thank you to everyone who came, helped and brought Gavin a present. I want to send you all thank you notes but it probably won't happen this year. Know I am grateful, please! I made the above monkey cake and cupcakes which weren't perfect but he liked that and it tasted good and I guess that is all that matters.
Gavin staring at his beloved Addison who he talks about daily.

It was a good party! I am glad birthdays only happen once a year though because they are a lot of work. Now time to prep for Mike's 30th birthday party. Oh boy! Between birthdays, thanksgiving and Christmas I am a busy girl!

4 a.m. with a 2 year old

Gavin: MamaDada (has now become one word like Brangelina or TomKat).

He keeps repeating until 1 of us or both grunt in response.

Gavin (in a giggly sing songy voice): I two.

As he waves 2 tiny fingers in the air.

Gavin: Watch Open (portable DVD player)

Mommy: No you are supposed to go nigh night.

Daddy (firmly): Nigh Night Gavin.

Gavin mischievously giggles. Flopping closer to Daddy.

Mommy (silently): Thank you Lord.

Gavin: Sad?

Daddy: No honey we are happy.

Gavin: appy! appy!

Gavin: MamaDada, MamaDada, Mama Dada...

This all went on until we finally wisened up to the fact that he was not going to sleep. We put him back in his room where he was quiet but not for long.

Do you think he knows today is his birthday party?

This is what happens when babies don't sleep at night. They fall asleep in random places, doing random things.
