Gavin and the potty

I was talking with Mike tonight about how it might be nice to get Gavin a little potty just to get him acquainted with the idea. He has been trying to take his pants off and is watching Mike and I use the restroom with much curiosity. So tonight I put him on the big potty just to see what he would do. I have done this in the past and he has freaked out which is part of the reason I thought a training potty would be better. He sat on there looking really excited and proud of himself. Then he started to get this focused look on his face and started pushing. I look down and he is peeing in the toilet. While I know it is probably just a fluke he most certainly looked like he knew what he was doing and a pride like I never thought I was capable of rose up in me. We will see if the interest persists. He is only 16 months so I won't hold my breath.

Ha ha ha ......you know that the potty training deal is similar to training the 'dogs'. You have all of the 'daycare' experience so this should be 'easy peasy'! I think he is a wee bit young for this but 'hey' sometimes it happens early.....Peyton was relatively easy to train BUT he is twice Gavins age..:-) Maybe we'll see you on the week-end....hugs..

Way to go Gavin!

I know people who have successfully potty trained kids his age. I definitely say avoid the potty chair if you can. We got Jonathan a seat that fits on the toilet to make it more his size. Then everything goes in the toilet and you don't have to clean a potty chair.

BTW I found you from Nicole. Hope you don't mind :)
